About the Artist:
I am a Landscape/Nature, Travel, Fine Art photographer from the heart of Sonoma’s Wine Country. Like many other photographers, what began as a hobby turned into a profession. My interest in photography began in 1973 when I bought my first serious camera and it has grown with every photo I've taken. At that time I started to think of photos as a way to express my take on a moment as I observed it.
Above all, I consider myself an observer of the beauty around me first and a photographer second. I simply enjoy spending time at a beautiful location capturing the moment when light transforms textures. I love dramatic images that capture the magic of the landscape, a structure or person.
My photographs come from the deep love I have for those moments. I find sanctuary in immersing myself in the experience of each and every one of those. Each of my photographs is like my own timestamp of that place in time. Landscape, travel, storyteller... sharing the moments I appreciate through photography is a true joy.
Immersing myself in the experience has always led me to more creative photographs. Photography is a form of communication. I am attempting to convey an aesthetic message of what I saw and felt at a particular place and moment. I often think of what the artist Degas said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” And I want others to not only see, but feel what I did at that moment. If I’m able to translate what I’ve seen and felt with my images I am creating photos not just taking pictures.
